Tri-County LTR Funder's Forum minutes

March 4, 2015

The Funders Forum meeting of Tri-County Long Term Recovery was called to order at 8:01 a.m. by Chairman Jim Fassino. In attendance were Darius Alemzadeh, Terry Bibo, Capt. Katherine Clausell, Ben Davidson, Mark Doebler, Shelley Epstein, Fassino, Bruce Fitzgerald, Sondra Hayes, Roger Holzhauer, Kristy Howell, Matt Moehle, Trish O'Neal, Jennifer M. Orban, Tom Pelger, Liz Pollack, Mark Roberts, John Rothfusz, Barb Slagel, Tim Slagel, Pam Tomka, Amber Wells.

February minutes: Approved.

New members: Senior Pastor John Bates of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

Chairman's remarks: Fassino said LTR will begin sending letters to clients about funding so everyone is crystal clear where the money came from. If any funders would prefer to remain anonymous, they should please let LTR staff know.

Cases considered: Pollack said funders would be familiar with the needs in most cases, which include concrete, mileage and soil remediation.

Twenty-two cases involved unmet, non-soil needs. A total of $64,183 was pledged, completely funding 14 cases, and partially funding the remaining eight cases.

Soil remediation reimbursement involved 12 cases. Washington Area Foundation pledged $2,000 per case, Washington Rotary and The Salvation Army pledged $1,000 apiece for each case. A total of $45,144 was pledged, completing 10 cases. (Note: That figure will be reduced to $43,444. One client's insurance company unexpectedly paid the claim after the March meeting.) There was a $5,525 balance split between the two remaining cases.

Soil remediation quotes comprised the remaining 15 cases. In order, Washington Illinois Area Foundation agreed to pay up to $2,000 each, LTR, $1,000; The Salvation Army, $500; Washington Rotary, $1,000. Up to $68,482 was pledged. Depending upon the quote selected by the homeowner, that may completely fill the need for seven cases.

Long Term Recovery Community meeting: 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at LTR Center.

Funders' comments: None.

Case management comments: Fassino mentioned social media postings. Some people asked for a more timely response; others complained about documentation requirements. Pollack said most clients understand that funders need documentation, but some people are negative and others don't have all the facts.

Next Funders Forum: 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, at LTR center.

The meeting adjourned at 9:01 a.m.
